For making splatter-painted stuff, Maranda recommends Martha Stewart Tintable Fabric Medium. Here’s a tutorial from Damask Love for the whole process.
Interfacing and fusible adhesives: Stitch Witchery, Wonder-Under by Pellon and the basics on interfacing from Craftsy
Maranda’s storebought bento bag is by Ambitalia, which she bought at Spun in Ann Arbor, MI.
We found many bento bag-making tutorials online, here a few we liked:
For sewing a bento bag:
- Fast Fat Quarter uses several fat quarters to make a bento bag
- Textile Arts Center makes one from a single piece of fabric
- Very Shannon has great schematic drawings to make the whole process clear from the start
For knitting a bento bag: here’s the Pom Pom Quarterly pattern that started our conversation, Judoka. It comes in 3 sizes for whatever amount of yarn you happen to have available. I plan to do mine in just 2 colors of Malabrigo organic cotton. We only found one other pattern for knitting a bento bag online, and it’s in German.
